Taxonomic Description:
The blades are a grey-green color and are short, usually 2–15 cm (0.79–5.91 in) long with rough edges.The erect stems can grow 1–30 cm (0.39–11.81 in) tall. The stems are slightly flattened, often tinged purple in colour.
The seed heads are produced in a cluster of two to six spikes together at the top of the stem, each spike 2–5 cm (0.79–1.97 in) long.
It has a deep root system; in drought situations with penetrable soil, the root system can grow to over 2 metres (6.6 ft) deep, though most of the root mass is less than 60 centimetres (24 in) under the surface. The grass creeps along the ground and roots wherever a node touches the ground, forming a dense mat. C. dactylon reproduces through seeds, runners, and rhizomes. Growth begins at temperatures above 15 °C (59 °F) with optimum growth between 24 and 37 °C (75 and 99 °F); in winter, the grass becomes dormant and turns brown. Growth is promoted by full sun and retarded by full shade, e.g., close to tree trunks.

Taxonomic description:

  This plant is kept under endangered status. An erect perennial shrub with a long, irregularly, nodular, yellowish rootstock. Leaves in whorls thin, lanceolate, acute, bright green above and pale beneath. Flowers irregular corymbose cymes, white, often tinged with violet. Fruit Drupe, single or didymous, shining black, the inflorescence with red pedicels and calyx and white corolla.

Uses:  It is used for the treatment of high blood sugar. Hence called as universal medicine for lowering blood pressure. ¯It cures insomnia, hysteria, and hypertension. Rauwolfia is found beneficial in relieving hysteria. It is also useful for in the treatment of cataract. It also cures plague and fever.It is used in different countries as a sedative and tranquilizer. Rauwolfia serpentina is believed to cure anxiety, psychosis, and epilepsy. The root is used for the difficult childbirth. It is used to stimulate uterine contraction. It is used in various part of the world for the treatment of snake (cobra), scorpion or reptile bites and stings of any poisonous insects. The mixture of this with ginger and black pepper regularizes menstruation.  The extract is also used against dysentery since ages.  It is used in the treatment of hypochondria, mental disorders and a certain form of insanity. It is also used against irregular heart action in old ages.

Taxonomic discription:

     A small to medium-sized, deciduous tree up to 11 m tall with a dense, rounded crown; bark blackish-brown, deeply cut into rectangular plates; heartwood extremely hard, dark purple. Leaves usually imparipinnate, 10-18 cm long; leaflets 3, rarely 4-5, 3.8-7.6 cm long, broadly ovate or orbicular undersurface pale and clothed with fine grey hairs. Flowers yellow, borne a few together in simple or sparingly branched racemes; calyx 5-6 mm long, deltoid. Fruits (pods) obliquely orbicular, including the wing, base narrowed into a short, concavely curved stipe c. 8 mm long, woolly. Seeds 1-2, reddish-brown, smooth, leathery, 1-1.5 cm long.

Uses: It is an astringent and a cooling agent and is used in several skincare preparations.

It is used in the treatment of pimples, acne, wrinkles etc.

It is also used internally in chronic bronchitis, gonorrhea, and gleet, chronic cystitis with benzoic and boric acids.

Much used as a perfume for different purposes.

 The wood is used for making fancy articles and is much carved.

It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine as an antiseptic, wound healing agent and anti-acne treatment.

Taxonomic description:
       It is native to the Himalayas. Trees  55 m tall. Bark dark red-brown, thick, deeply and longitudinally fissured, scaly; winter buds brown, small, ovoid, not resinous. Leaves 3 per bundle, slender, flabellate-triangular in cross-section, resin canals 2, median, base with persistent sheath 2-3 cm long. Seed cones shortly pedunculate, ovoid, 10-20 × 6-9 cm. Seed scales oblong, thick, stiff; apophyses strongly swollen, conspicuously transversely ridged; umbo triangular, protruding. Seeds 8-12 mm long; wing ca. 2.5 cm long. Seed maturity.

Medicinal uses:
·The oil extracted from the tree of Sarala is used for cleaning the wound and applied over the area affected with localized inflammation.
·Powder of the stem of Pinus in a dose of 2-3 g is used to treat fever and intestinal worms.
·The powder of the bark is applied as the paste to treat skin diseases like ringworm, eczema etc.
· The powder of the bark or the cold infusion prepared using the bark of the plant is used to treat a cough and asthma.
· Oil extracted from the plant is administered 1-2 drops in the ear canal to treat pain and inflammation of the area.
